What value did you find in working with an architect?
Someone who has been through it before. Who knows how to work with contractors, troublesome and not, and embody our love of a space into real things.
How would you describe the process of working with the architect?
Idan was delightful to work with. Thoughtful and pushing the boundaries just enough to make us reconsider maybe some safe choices. He was also really thoughtful in hearing us out when we had a commitment to an idea. He was so hands on, far above and beyond what I would expect and honestly the attention to detail and follow up are what make the space so splendid.”
Tell us a little about your "after" space created by the architect.
The space is beautiful in so many ways. The small details and larger choices really flow together to make a space that relaxes us just being in it. The kitchen is so much more functional and despite taking up more space feels less intrusive into the dining and living area. The stairs function as a beautiful monolith in the space but also recede away despite their intensity. The beautiful primary bedroom door is such a delight every time I see it. It's coming with me if we ever leave.

We started off with a multi-unit building with deferred maintenance and inefficient floorplans and I needed an architect to assist in creating the highest and best use for the space that we had. I reached out to Idan to create a set of drawings both for pricing and construction purposes, to assist with construction administration, and to ensure that the contractors were following the design intent of the drawings. The firm helped me envision new residences with well-designed spaces that would later prove to be award-winning. The project we worked on was an adaptive re-use, so the reimagining of the space was crucial and the team did a fantastic job in this aspect. The architects were able to take an idea and make it a better reality than I'd imagined possible! Adaptive re-use is full of compromises. The architects did a great job of mitigating the negative impacts of those compromises. They convinced us to go with a design-forward approach that I was initially skeptical of, and now my investors and I are all the happier for it. Additionally, the firm was able to help the building receive a new Certificate of Occupancy in an extremely fast time-frame.
